What's the big idea?

Eventually I'll need to prove that I thought of it first.
Thank heaven for little blogs.

I just want the credit

Check, Please.

It's a credit-card swiper mounted right at the restaurant table. I don't suggest it for your Michelin rated restaurants, but for family or business focused spots it makes perfect sense. To make it less offensive to waitstaff (important), it would be rigged to automatically ring up an 18% gratuity. Sure, the customer could override that, but I wouldn't want that to be its easiest feature. Let's not celebrate cheapness. When the diner has finished and makes a Check, Please request, the waitstaff would receive a page to notify them that Table X is getting ready to go. This way you can go over to say thanks, clear the table, what have you.

Faster turnover is hot for restauranteurs, getting out quick is a dream for the "busy."

I'm not going to lie -- it's pretty much the best idea ever.

Check, Please. You read it here first. My idea.

  1. It goes without saying, of course, that this is a computerized system wherein each table is numbered and its orders are kept track of electronically. Although I suppose it doesn't because I just said it. Nevertheless. Still a million dollar idea.

    MY million dollar idea.
